War Horse Movie Review

A movie directed  by Steven Spielberg and brought to life from a novel written by Michael Morpurgo, comes a fascinating movie entitled 'War Horse'. A movie that tells about hope and the journey of people and horses during World War I. Starring Jeremy Irvine as Albert Narracott, a young naive boy from Devon who's devoted to his magnificent horse named Joey, and Peter Mullan as Ted Narracott the reckless father of Albert who barely understands his son.

The story begins in Devon at a country side in England. When Albie (Albert Narracott) witneses the birth of a foul, it was love at first sight for him. To his surprise, Ted bought the foul at an horse auction. As Albie bonds with Joey, Ted sell Joey to Captain James Nicholls (Tom Hiddleston) for the war between England and Germany. From then, Albie is determined and promise to see Joey again. Will Albie be able to keep his promise?

The film produces powerful yet believable setting created by Rae Smith who has won an Obie award. With the blend of such detailed and authentic costumes and props by an award winning academy awards Johanna Johnson, it makes for a stunning and magical movie.

War horse is a truly a must see movie. This touching story will drive you to tears before you know it. Don't miss it!

This Unit's Reflection

I like writing argumentative essay because it is quite similar with debating but with no opponent to defend their thoughts.  The things that I’m good at this topic is writing out the thesis statement and I can relate my thesis statement with the next paragraph. What I need to improve is my referencing skills. During writing the final essay, I was away for one week. I didn't improve my referencing mistakes but I know it is not an excuse.  Without realizing, I also sometimes agree with the cons opinion, which is a brutal mistake.

I love debate unit because I like debate. What I’m good at is defending my group’s thought and to give them a new solution to their opinions. What I need to improve is my facial expression. When I say a strong statement, then my facial expression needs to act the same. I also need to be less nervous to calm myself so my voice will be clearer.  Even though I didn't get quite the time to discuss with my group because I was away, I still enjoyed it.

Argumentative essay

In Indonesia, we can find lots of kids who drive underage with or without fake license. We can easily spot high school or even primary students driving around motor cycles to reach their school. Without a doubt, they obviously do not know what danger they could cause.  Abdul Qodir Jaelani  is a kid who had taken the lives of 7 people at Jagorawi High way. The crash happened at 14th September 2013, at about one in the morning. Ahmad Dhani, a famous rock star in Indonesia as well as the father of this 13 year old boy should be the one who is responsible and to be blamed for this crash.
At the age of 13 kids are not mature yet, especially boys. Due to this fact, Ahmad Dhani should have been a good role model for his three kids. The result of him giving such luxuries to his son ended up getting him paying 1,5 billion for all the troubles his son had caused. This proofs that his son isn’t capable of paying all the damage because he still use his dad’s money. This statement automatically supports the fact that his son’s trouble was Ahmad Dhani’s responsibility. Which means, if he is responsible, he is the one who should be blamed.  Even his oldest son, Al has not get his driving license yet, then why would he give his youngest son who apparently is still careless to drive?
Dhani said that he had provide driver for Dhul, unfortunately he wasn’t present due to his day off. This reason is clearly unacceptable. Fact stated that he ran away from his house along with his friends, because he didn’t want to attend Judika’s wedding. This means that Dhul’s father was clearly over spoiled. Back when the crash happened, some medias taped that Dhani was teaching Dhul how to drive a car. This shows that his dad actually agrees that his son can take his car whenever he wants and drive without license.
If Dhul goes to jail, by the time he’s free he probably would continue driving illegally, because his father will keep on letting him do that. However, if his father were to put in jail than he may reflect and start changing his perspective and mind on how to raise a child properly. Also, jail isn’t a supportive place for ‘over spoiled’ children to grow.
Sure, the blame wouldn’t go all to his father. Some other people are also responsible. For instance, the ticket man at the high way could have seen Dhul and called the police to inform that a kid underage was driving. But again, were living in Indonesia where all the rules are just messed up. Therefore, the only person who should be responsible of his son was Ahmad Dhani himself. If he knew he couldn’t trust his son, then why did he teach him how to drive in the first place?

So from all of the statements and arguments above, I have come to a conclusion that Ahmad Dhani is the one to be blamed for teaching and letting his children drive illegally. No matter what, at the end of the day a father should and would be responsible of his own children’s action. To blame his son will be a wrong thing to do, because he was raised that way and he is just lost and confused because he was spoiled.

English Queenie's report thingy - Kein, Jack, Daffa, Shania

On January 6th 1990, 02.00 am in the morning we received a call from a woman named Queenie Volupides. When we got to her home on Street Saint Nick 69, we found her husband, Arthur lying down at the bottom of the stairs. Her husband was found dead.
We have tried to talked to our main suspect, which is Queenie. She said that she went to the country club party after a fight with her husband. After inviting her friends back to drink, she said that she saw her husband coming down the stairs to grab another drink as he slipped and died. She told her friends about it but choose not to call ambulance or any other emergency help.
The autopsy found out that Arthur’s blood have a strong alcohol in it and they have also found that Arthur have  a deep wound on Arthur’s head. This explains and can shortly proof what Queenie had stated. However, we then proceed to more investigating process to find more evidence.

There is some evidence that we found at the crime scene.  One, the glass in his hand isn’t broken. As a rule, when people fall downstairs they usually drop the objects they are holding unless the object is not important to them. Second, the banister is on Arthur’s left going down the stairs, but the glass is in his left hand. As a rule, when people go down the stairs and hold the banister, they would hold the object in the opposite hand. Third, Arthur’s is lying on his head facing upward. As a rule, when people fall down the stairs, they would usually fall face first. Fourth, there were no emergency responders present. As a rule, when most people see an injured people, they’ll call for an ambulance. Fifth, the carpet is neat/not messed up. As a rule, when people fall down the stairs, the carpet is usually messed up. Sixth, someone’s cooking. As a rule, when people cook, it’s usually at a reasonable time. And the last one, the items on the wall have not been disturbed/moved. As a rule, when people fall down the stairs, they usually grab onto something to prevent them from falling.
The evidence points to the contrary. We could not match what Queenie said with the evidence that we have found.  Queenie said that her husband slipped down the stairs but the evidence that we found such as the position of both body and things, the stairs itself,  and all the things at the crime scene is objecting her statement.

So with this report, We assumed that Queenie killed Arthur accidentally or even intentionally.
We choose to believe that Queenie Volupide is guilty of the murder of her husband, Arthur. What we think happen is because of the fight, Queenie could not keep her anger for too long so they both fight till things get uncontrolled, maybe Queenie tried defend herself .  As a sheriff, we need your approval to take her to the court room and then see further results. However, we strongly would like Queenie to be arrested and put in jail as a result of  her action.

What I have learnt

How can we use blogs to explore new ideas, opinions and interact with the world around us?

I have learnt mostly on how to make a good content out of a blog. A good content must be interesting and fresh and original. It also has to relate to our daily life and readers could easily connect to the topic. Writer must not only write about one particular thing because we have to understand that not all people has the same interest as us.

I have also learn about how to write a good quality comment. The most important part is how can we connect and communicate between the writer and reader. This can be done by adding some information, experiences, giving compliments, and ask questions to keep the conversation going. Proof reading is also essential. We don't want the writer / reader to get all flustered about the post.

I have also learn to be responsible for my own blog. Responsible by posting my posts, and also be  responsible of online safety. Which is, monitoring our blog is also necessary for us, and keeping our blog updated. Updated here means to keep the posts updated, to reply the comments and feedback that the reader had given to us, update our templates and also to update our creativity.

During this unit, I need to improve on the content of my blog. My content is slightly short and I rarely connect it and reflect it to my own self. But at least, I have tried to express my thoughts. I think I am good at making comments. Although, sometimes I need to pay attention through the proof read.

In the future, I think the majority of people who use or read blogs will remain the same or maybe wit will even increase. Blog has been really useful for people. It links us to different ideas, opinions, and thoughts. We can keep updated for new information by blog. And we can find many different various ways on how to express our feelings, thoughts through it.

Pets.

I don't know what to post, but I saw some of you doing posts about your pets, so I decided to make one too.
Since I was little, I always wanted a dog. Unfortunately, i never had a chance to get one. My parents keep promising me to buy one but they never really keep their promises. But I do have some pets at home.

I have a rabbit called Hosh Hosh. I know it's a weird name. He's four years old and smart for a rabbit. Everytime you call out his name, he would come to you and ask for food.  Hosh doesn't have a cage, he just live freely.

I also have koi fish. I used to have about 50 more, but during holidays about 40 of them died because they all got sick. I tried to put some medicine but it won't work. But I've bought a new one.

Besides koi fish, I have three Betta fish. I puth all three of them in a bottle. They're more easy to handle comparing to koi fish. Betta fish are used to fight with each other, so you need to place like a cardboard to prevent them from fighting, but if you want them to fight, then you just simple take off the cardboard! :D

Here are some pictures of my pets :
